James Gunn is already writing his next yet-to-be-named film as ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ heads towards release
James Gunn has started writing his next film while his new superhero movie Superman: Man of Tomorrow is set to arrive in theatres on July 9, 2027. He also confirmed that the assembly cut of the film is complete after filming wrapped in August.

Replying to a user who asked, “Are you ready to write your next film, James, or not quite yet?”, Gunn said, “Already in it. I had to do something while I was waiting for the assembly!!”.

Gunn also replied to another user who asked, “Is the assembly cut for MOT complete?” He confirmed that the assembly cut was complete. Variety reported that Gunn had previously confirmed in August that filming for Superman: Man of Tomorrow had wrapped.

‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ is the sequel to Gunn’s 2025 film Superman. Gunn is both. Directing the movie. David Corenswet will return as Superman. Rachel Brosnahan will again play the role of Lois Lane. Isabela Merced will take on the role of Hawkgirl. Nathan Fillion will play Guy Gardner. Edi Gathegi will portray Mister Terrific. Skyler Gisondo will play Jimmy Olsen. Aaron Pierre will play John Stewart also known as Green Lantern. Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac. Adria Arjona will play Maxima. Variety reported the casting details.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have been leading DC Studios since 2022.They oversee its film and TV projects. Deadline reported that they are expected to remain in their roles after Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
