About Jailer 2
Helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Like the prequel, the sequel narrates the story of "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer. In the earlier film, he was shown to be hot on the trail of Varman, an idol smuggler, and also investigating the disappearance of his son, ACP Arjun. The sequel depicts Muthuvel living a quiet life with his family, working as a supermarket supervisor. Varman, whose illegal business he dismantled, has a friend, Dileep, another idol thief who hires an investigator named Mukund to identify his killer. Muthuvel again gets entangled in shady business when he gets tricked by a fruit seller-gangster, Moorthi, into becoming his driver. The film boasts a stellar cast. Aside from Rajinikanth, the movie also features veteran actors such as Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprising their roles from the predecessor, with S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan joining the cast.
The movie has been deemed the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026.
