The movie was originally titled as 'Padmavati', which was changed after suggestions by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC gave U/A certification and asked for five modifications along with the title change. However, one of the modifications proposed by the Censor Board resulted in 300 cuts in the movie.

The filmmakers of 'Aiyaari', starring Sidharth Malhotra, have pushed ahead their date of release to February 9 to avoid the clash.
