It's official! Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant engagement ceremony solemnised in Rajasthan, spring wedding for couple

The Ambani household is set for another big, fat wedding.

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's love story became official on Thursday following the couple's 'roka' (engagement) ceremony in Rajasthan. The youngest Ambani's nuptials with the daughter of Shaila and Viren Merchant is now being planned for early next year.

The engagement ceremony of Anant, the son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, was performed at the Shrinathji Temple at Nath Dwara in Rajasthan. The priests of the temple conducted the ceremony which was attended by a few close friends and family members.


A company release shared by the Reliance Industries Limited said that the "young couple spent the day at the temple seeking Lord Shrinathji’s blessings for their upcoming union." The couple also participated in the traditional Raj-bhog-shringaar ceremonies at the temple. A celebration is also lined up for later this evening.

Earlier in June, the Ambanis hosted a grand arangetram for Radhika at the Grand Theater in Jio World Centre, situated in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Arangetram, a Tamil word which means 'ascent to the stage’, marks a dancer's graduation to a professional performer on stage. The ceremony is a student's first-ever performance on stage, followed by years of training. The 25-year-old Radhika has trained in classical dance from Shree Nibha Arts under the guidance of Guru Bhavana Thakar for nearly eight years
Anant completed his studies from Brown University in the USA. He has served at Reliance Industries in various capacities including as a member on the Boards of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures. He currently leads the energy business of RIL.

Radhika is a graduate of New York University and serves as a Director on the Board of Encore Healthcare. Her father Viren is the CEO of Encore Healthcare, and one of the richest billionaires in the country. The Merchants trace their roots to the Kutch region of Gujarat.
