Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw wished her 1.6 million Twitter followers 'Happy Janamashtami' with a lesson from Lord Krishna.
Lord Krishna's birthday is celebrated as Janmashtami with much fervor in the country. While festive gatherings and Dahi Handi celebrations - the ritual of playfully forming a human pyramid to break a pot of curd hanging high up on a rope, were missing due to the pandemic, social media was abuzz with wishes.

Joining the virtual celebrations was Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, who shared Lord Krishna's "powerful" words to Karna from the Mahabharata.

Wishing her 1.6 million followers 'Happy Janamashtami', one of the richest self-made women in the country, Mazumdar-Shaw, tweeted, "Remember Lord Krishna’s powerful words to Karna in the Mahabharat: Always remember, Life may be tough and full of challenges but DESTINY is not created by the SHOES we wear but by the STEPS we take...”

Bollywood celebrities also took to the micro-blogging site to wish fans.

Amitabh Bachchan wished fans in Hindi, tweeting, "Janmashtami ki anek anek shubhkaamnayein." His actor son Abhishek Bachchann, who recently fractured his arm and had to undergo surgery for it, also shared wishes of "happiness, peace and joy."

'3 Idiots' actor R Madhavan shared a picture of little Krishna saying, "Open your door. I am on the way," writing alongside it, "Wish you all a very Happy and wonderful Janamaashtami. May lord Krishna bless you all with the best of his blessing."
