Met Gala 2023, the fashion's biggest night, was all about special announcements.
Tennis ace Serena Williams and supermodel Karlie Kloss decided to reveal their pregnancy to the world on the Met Gala red carpet.
On Tuesday, Williams confirmed she was expecting her second child with businessman-husband Alexis Ohanian Sr at the star-studded Met Gala in New York.
The professional tennis player, who is an old friend of Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour, shared a string of images of herself, flaunting her baby bump, before hitting the Met Gala red carpet. "Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala," her caption read.
The 41-year-old mommy-to-wore a monochrome Gucci outfit with Tiffany & Co jewellery for the gala. Her ensemble was a combination of a collard suit and a figure-hugging dress with a white tulle-flared skirt.
Williams and Ohanian, who are frequent attendees of the annual event, already have a five-year-old daughter Olympia.
Williams's husband also took to social media to share images from their photo shoot before hitting the Met Gala red carpet. He said that the couple love the "parenting-thing" so they decided to have their second child too.
"Mama (Serena) & Papa love this parenting-thing, so we're back at it. Olympia is gonna be the best Big Sister—she's been asking & praying for this for a minute," he wrote in his post.

Ohanian wore a black tailored suit on the red carpet.

Meanwhile, Kloss also debuted her baby bump alongside businessman-husband Josh Kushner at the gala. Karlie Kloss with Joshua Kushner Sporting black hair, the 39-year-old reimagined a black dress from Lagerfeld's Spring Summer 1983 collection for Chanel "through the blurred lens of the latest Loewe runway collection."
The couple already have a son, Levi, who was born in March 2021.
This year's theme was 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty', in honour of the late Chanel designer.
