From setbacks to new beginnings
A retired couple from Noida, Ajay and Sunita Tomar, is now redefining retirement through their inspiring travel adventures. According to a report by The Better India, right after Ajay’s retirement in 2022, his wife developed a severe spinal condition that left her bedridden for a month.
This difficult phase became a turning point for the couple, prompting them to finally pursue their long-cherished dream of exploring the country. Since then, they have embraced life on the road, travelling extensively across India in their car - sleeping and cooking inside the vehicle as if it were their in-motion home.
Life on wheels, freedom beyond routine
Earlier this month, Ajay and Sunita Tomar, who run a travel-coded, joint Instagram account ghoomnafirnaa, dropped a video on Instagram that can make many travel enthusiasts super-intrigued. In the clip, Ajay revealed that they love camping and at present, they were spending time under the stars near Dola Ashram in Uttarakhand.
Surrounded by lush greenery, distant rolling hills, and a picturesque setting, Ajay and Sunita Tomar prepared a heart meal. Yes, you read that right. As per The Better India, the couple have transformed their car’s trunk into a functional kitchen, loaded with all the essential equipment required for cooking basic yet tasty meals.
Finding peace in nature after retirement
In the video, Sunita Tomar was seen preparing lip-smacking dal-chawal and dry arbi ki sabzi with Ajay Tomar also helping his wife. The delectable spread was arranged on a portable table as the travel-loving pair enjoyed the homely food, encircled by nothing but nature.
As per Ajay, camping in forests and mountains refreshes their body and mind while also helping the duo escape from the polluted city life. He added that being amid nature and having warm food on the go were the real joys of retirement life. Just a dollop of ghee into the dal, makes the experience even better, he joked.
