Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not keep calm and took to Twitter to congratulate ISRO for CARTOSAT-3 success.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), on Wednesday, successfully launched CARTOSAT-3 - its imaging and mapping satellite - along with 13 commercial nano satellites.

Ninth in its series, the CARTOSAT-3 is India's most-complex and advanced earth imaging satellite built so far.

The launch took place at 9.28 am from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. The 44.4 metre tall PSLV C47 rocket took 17 minutes and 46 seconds to inject the satellite in orbit. Nano satellites followed 26 minutes after liftoff.

The CARTOSAT-3 launch comes 4 months after ISRO's highly-lauded Chandrayaan-2 mission - that aimed to achieve a soft landing on the south polar region of the moon. While the Vikram lander didn't manage to touchdown on the lunar surface, the mission saw the nation unite and celebrate ISRO's efforts.

Wednesday once again saw Twitter in congratulatory mode for the space organisation, as messages celebrating the success of CARTOSAT-3 poured in. People from across the nation lauded ISRO chief K Sivan and the team behind the mission.

Goyal hailed the phenomenal accomplishment of ISRO's scientists, calling it a proud moment for the country.

Singh said that space organisation has made the nation proud once again, and wished them the best for future missions.

While Gehlot tweeted about the that doors the satellite opens for India's future research work, saying it could 'enhance capabilities in cartographic applications'.

Several other users also lived the 'proud Indian' moment on Twitter.

While one called ISRO India's pride, others thanked Sivan and ISRO for making India proud yet again.

Some consider King Vikramaditya a part of history, some think he was just a legend. Vikramaditya ruled over parts of India in the 1st century BCE, and popular culture credits him with starting the Vikrama Samvat era in 57 BCE. He is featured in hundreds of traditional Indian legends, including the popular Vikram and Betaal, which is based on Baital Pachisi. In the collection of short stories, originally written in Sanskrit, King Vikramaditya promises a sorcerer that he will capture a celestial spirit, Betaal. The spirit tricks the king into answering his riddles before flying away. The spirit agrees to captivity only after finally stumping Vikramaditya with the 25th riddle.
