What actually happened?
Luna is a 7-month-old Bernese Mountain pup who lives in California, devoured 24 socks, a onesie, a shoe insert, a scrunchie and two hair ties. Luckily, her human parents noticed something was wrong when she began to vomit. They also noticed a swollen and firm abdomen. Worried for their fur baby’s health, they rushed Luna to the animal hospital. According to the Corona Animal emergency Centre, after a quick examination by the vets, the doctors discovered that Luna had a severe intestinal blockage due to swallowing the various clothing items.
Luna underwent two critical procedures, a gastrotomy to clear her stomach and an enterotomy to remove the onesie obstructing the intestine. The clinic also shared a few X-Ray photos of Luna’s abdomen and added a note about the dog’s recovery by writing, “Against all odds, Luna pulled through and is now wagging her tail again.”
In the same post, the clinic also highlighted how pet parents can be more cautious. It read, “To Pet Parents: Luna’s story is a reminder to trust your instincts. If you notice vomiting, lethargy, or a firm abdomen, don’t wait—act fast and contact your vet.”
