The arrival of the Apple iPhone and the rollout of the latest version of iOS are keenly anticipated events in any gadgets launch calendar.

The Android-isation of the iPhone?
For years, the big complaint about iOS has been that it is not as customisable as Android. With iOS 14, Apple took the first steps towards that, and with iOS 16 it has taken a huge leap. The new operating system brings an all-new lock screen which allows users to change fonts, add multiple widgets and a lot more. You can create multiple lock screens and further customize them. It is the Android-isation of iOS and will perhaps split opinion. It does make the home screen look much cooler than before; perhaps Apple has finally beaten Android at its own customisation game.
Edit, Unsend Messages
If lock screen is a cue from Android, then some new features in iMessage are ‘inspired’ from the likes of WhatsApp, Telegram and other instant messaging apps. With iOS 16, users have the option of editing a send message and even unsend them within a specific time. It may just save you from some embarrassment. iMessages also get a ‘mark unread’ feature for the first time with iOS 16. You can create multiple lock screens and further customize them.
Three Rings to Rule
If you have used an Apple Watch, then you would know that the three rings — activity hub — can be all-consuming. With iOS 16, those cool, motivating and even annoying three rings are coming to the Fitness app. This means even if you don’t have an Apple Watch, you can keep a better track of your fitness on the iPhone.
Bye-Bye CAPTCHAs
Traffic lights, stairs, fire hydrants — the sight of them on that grid just to prove that you are indeed a human is indeed an eyesore. Not anymore though, as Apple with iOS 16 plans to kill the CAPTCHA. With iOS 16, Apple is introducing Private Access Tokens that help you identify HTTP requests from legitimate devices and people without compromising your identity or personal information. It can be activated quite easily on the iPhone and bypasses CAPTCHAs in apps and websites. So, bye-bye CAPTCHAs, you won’t be missed.
