iPhone 8 Plus vs iPhone 7 Plus: What's new and what's not

Earlier this week, Apple finally unveiled its latest generation of iPhones. The company launched the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and its tenth anniversary edition iPhone X (to be called ten).

The three new iPhones sport a new design and processor. Apple has also finally added wireless charging to the iPhones.

Here we compare Apple iPhone 8 Plus with the previous generation iPhone 7 Plus. Read on to find out what's new and what's not-so-new.

Display: Old

The Apple iPhone 8 comes with a 5.5-inch Full-HD display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution. This is the same as the one in iPhone 7 Plus. The pixel density of 410 ppi too is same in both the iPhones.

Processor: New

iPhone 8 Plus is powered by the company's own 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. It is claimed to be 25% faster than the previous-generation A10. Apple A10 powers the company's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.

Design: New

The Apple iPhone 8 Plus comes with an all-new aluminium and glass design. The company claims that the samrtphone is made of most durable glass using aerospace-grade aluminum bezel.

Camera: New

Although the iPhone 8 Plus comes with the same dual-rear camera setup with 12MP sensors. It does not have support for dualOIS. Also, in iPhone 8 plus though the front camera is same 7MP as in iPhone 7 plus, it has a new portrait lightning mode. The new mode brings studio lighting effect and enables users to capture portraits shallow depth-of-field effect in five different lighting styles.

Base storage variant: New

With the launch of this year's iPhones, the company has increased the base storage capacity to 64GB variant. All three new iPhones -- iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X -- have 64GB as base storage.

Wireless charging: New

All three new iPhones, including iPhone 8 Plus, come with wireless charging support. The wireless charging on iPhone 8 Plus works with Qi standard.

Water and dust resistance: Old

Just like the iPhone 7 Plus, the new iPhone 8 Plus also comes with IP67 rating which makes the device splash, dust and water resistant.
