iPhone 14 Pro: Apple to ditch notch, go big with new ultra-wide sensor in major camera upgrade

Apple is gearing up for its biggest event of the year where the tech giant will unveil the iPhone of 2022. So far, we have heard a lot about the upcoming new phones, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

But as per the recent reports, both the high-end smartphones by Apple will come with new ultra-wide camera sensors that can capture 1.4µm pixels.

The latest smartphone by Apple, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, capture 1.0µm pixels with their new ultra-wide cameras.


According to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new CMOS imaging sensor will be accompanied by a new voice coil motor (VCM) and a new compact camera module.

It is being reported that Sony might supply the CMOS sensor to Apple for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Meanwhile, LG is believed to be the main company camera module supplies.

This isn't the only major camera update Apple is planning for the upcoming new smartphone. Reportedly, the iPhone 14 Pro series will flaunt a 48 MP primary camera that uses 4-in-1 pixel binning.

Meanwhile, Kuo had earlier reported that the next generation of Apple smartphones, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will offer a massive redesign that replaces the notch with a punch-hole cutout.

Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 14 series at the ‘Far Out’ event next week.
