Apple's Siri is getting smarter on iPhones with iOS 27
Among those showcased were Indian-developed apps such as Mood Dial, Glance, Signeasy, Noteshelf and District, each bringing different capabilities to Apple's ecosystem.
But beyond the demonstrations, how relevant are these features to everyday users? To understand this better, I reached out to the developers behind these apps with questions about adoption, practical applications and whether these integrations are actually changing user behaviour.
Mood Dial: Finding music through conversations
Mood Dial for Apple Music allows users to describe how they feel to Siri rather than manually searching through genres and playlists.Mohit Nandwani, Founder of Mood Dial, believes this makes music discovery more personal.
"Telling Siri how you feel starts from you instead," he said, adding that the experience allows users to spend less time deciding what to play and more time listening.
Glance: AI styling moves beyond virtual try-ons
Glance is bringing conversational styling and selfie-based virtual try-ons into its Siri AI experience.Arvind Jayaprakash, Senior Vice President, Technology, Glance, said the platform currently serves over 14 million monthly active users globally and has fulfilled more than 200 million style requests.
Around 15-20% of users actively engage with virtual try-ons, while approximately 40% begin a shopping journey.
Importantly, Siri is already contributing to usage. According to Jayaprakash, it is "driving nearly one-third of Glance chat invocations on iOS app."
Signeasy: Making document management quicker
Signeasy allows users to ask Siri to find pending documents, locate contracts and open or share files without manually navigating folders.Santhosh J, Head of Mobile at Signeasy, said around three in four customers using Apple devices sign documents on their iPhones.
"The signature is still a deliberate step inside the app, but Siri makes getting to it much quicker," he explained.
The integration is intended to make document management more convenient, particularly for users working on the move.
Noteshelf: Users prefer asking questions over audio summaries
Noteshelf has introduced Siri-based interactions that allow users to ask questions about their notes and access audio summaries.Rama Krishna, Founder of Fluid Touch, said, "So far, more people are asking Siri about their notes."
Audio summaries currently attract a smaller but engaged audience, particularly students and professionals recording lectures and meetings.
District: Turning event screenshots into bookings
District is using iOS 27's visual intelligence capabilities to connect event discovery with ticket bookings.Users can take screenshots of event posters or Instagram posts, use Highlight to Search and open the corresponding event listing in District.
According to Adarsh Singh, Software Development Engineer at District, the integration is designed to create a smoother journey from discovering an event to purchasing tickets.
However, when asked specifically about the accuracy of identifying Indian event posters, particularly those in regional languages, the company did not provide any performance figures.
What does this mean for iPhone users?
These integrations demonstrate how Apple is attempting to make Siri and visual intelligence more useful beyond its own applications. For developers, the focus is increasingly on reducing the number of steps required to complete a task. However, the responses also suggest that adoption varies considerably. While Glance has shared concrete usage figures, other developers are still observing how users engage with these features.
Ultimately, the success of these integrations will depend less on what Siri can demonstrate and more on whether users find themselves returning to these capabilities regularly.
iOS 27 bugs: What users should know
While iOS 27 is bringing new capabilities to the iPhone, the update has also reportedly caused problems for some users, including Face ID issues, display glitches and occasional freezes. We have not encountered these problems on our test devices so far, but the reports are worth keeping in mind, particularly for users considering an immediate upgrade.I have also put together a video explaining the reported issues, what affected users can do to troubleshoot them and whether it makes sense to wait for a more stable update.
