Invincible Season 5 OTT release update: When and where to watch Mark Grayson's next chapter after Viltrum war. Everything you need to know

The wait for Invincible Season 5 is expected to be much shorter than some of the gaps fans faced earlier in the series. Following the Season 4 finale and the destruction of Viltrum, Mark Grayson’s uneasy arrangement with Grand Regent Thragg has left the superhero drama heading into a very different phase.

When will Invincible Season 5 release?

While Amazon Prime Video has already confirmed a fifth season, they not announced an exact premiere date for Season 5. However, the available production updates point towards an early 2027 release, with February or March to be the likely window.

The expectation is based partly on the show's schedule followed for its previous seasons. Season 3 premiered on February 6, 2025, while Season 4 arrived on March 18, 2026. Both seasons began with three episodes before moving to weekly releases.


The production schedule also suggests that Season 5 is progressing without a major delay. According to reports, the main cast had already completed their voice recording for the fifth season.

Omni-Man voice actor J.K. Simmons had also pointing out that animation and other work creates a significant gap between voice recording and finished episodes.

Where to watch Invincible Season 5?

Invincible Season 5 will stream on Amazon Prime Video, following the same home as the previous four seasons.

Prime Video renewed the animated series for Season 5 in July 2025, months before Season 4 premiered. The streamer has also renewed the show for a sixth season, making the series one of its longest-running animated originals.

For now, viewers will have to wait for Prime Video to announce the exact Season 5 premiere date and episode rollout.

What happens after the Viltrumite war?

Season 5 will pick up from a complicated new status quo. Mark and the Coalition of Planets have been unable to simply defeat Thragg, leading to a truce under which the remaining Viltrumites stay on Earth to rebuild their population.

That does not mean the Viltrumite threat is over. Thragg remains an important figure in the larger story, but the next season is expected to shift some of its immediate attention towards another dangerous character: Dinosaurus.

Dinosaurus, the alter ego of scientist David Anders, has a very different approach to saving the world. His belief that great sacrifices are justified for the greater good puts him in direct opposition to Mark's principles. This could make the conflict more complicated than a straightforward battle between hero and villain.

The character's presence gives Season 5 a new direction after the enormous scale of the Viltrumite conflict.

Thragg will remain the primary villian of the story even if he is not the immediate focus. His truce with Mark is unlikely to erase the wider conflict between the Viltrumites and their enemies.

Allen the Alien faces a difficult choice

Another major storyline could involve Allen the Alien. After Thaedus’ death, Allen becomes the new leader of the Coalition of Planets and discovers the enhanced Scourge Virus.

The weapon could possibly kill the rest of the Viltrumites but it would also endanger Mark and Nolan. That creates a difficult situation for Allen, who has long been one of Mark's allies. His responsibilities as Coalition leader could eventually put him at odds with his friend.

Creator Robert Kirkman has also indicated that the television series has plenty of room for new storylines and side quests. As per The Direct, he said, "The writers on the show have tons of ideas," suggesting that the adaptation may further move beyond the comic's exact structure.
