Invincible Season 5: Renewal already confirmed
There is some clarity here. The series has already been renewed for a fifth season. Prime Video made that decision back in July 2025, well before Season 4 even arrived. That early greenlight has played a role in speeding things up behind the scenes.According to updates shared by the creators and production team in multiple interviews, work on Season 5 has been going on for quite some time. In fact, parts of the process overlapped with earlier seasons. This includes voice recording, which typically happens much earlier in animation production.
Robert Kirkman, who created the original comics and is closely involved with the show, explained how the team has been trying to maintain a steady release pattern. He said, “We’ve hit our window and we’re gonna keep hitting the window. You should be able to watch the show — if we’re fortunate enough to continue beyond Season 5 — every year is the ideal.”
When to expect Invincible Season 5
There is no official release date yet, but the expected window looks like early 2027. Based on how previous seasons have been scheduled, many are pointing to a possible release between March and April.Kirkman also hinted at a similar timeline, though he avoided confirming anything specific. He said, “I think that a pattern has formed, but I can't confirm anything. Maybe it will be April,” and then added, “Maybe May. Maybe January. I don’t know. Who knows? We’ll see.”
What is clear is that the gap between seasons may not be as long as before. Since production started early, the wait should feel shorter this time around.
What happened in Season 4 finale
Season 4 ended in a way that sets up a much bigger conflict. Instead of a loud ending, it focused more on tension and decisions.Mark ends up agreeing to a deal with Grand Regent Thragg, allowing the remaining Viltrumites to live on Earth. This puts the planet in a very strange situation going forward. At the same time, the Coalition of Planets is dealing with leadership changes, and there’s a possible plan involving the Scourge Virus that could have serious consequences.
Relationships are also not in a stable place. Mark and Eve are dealing with personal struggles, Nolan and Debbie are trying to move forward, and some characters are still missing or stuck elsewhere.
What to expect from Season 5
If the show continues to follow the comics, Season 5 could take a darker turn. Mark may be pushed into decisions that go against his earlier beliefs. One possible storyline involves him working with Dinosaurus, a character who challenges his thinking in a big way. There are also hints that the scale of the story will increase. With Viltrumites now on Earth and multiple threats building up, the next chapter could feel more intense than before.
Prime Video also teased the direction earlier, saying, “While the world recovers from catastrophe, a changed Mark fights to protect his home and the people he loves, setting him on a collision course with a threat that could alter the fate of humanity forever.”
The voice cast is expected to return, including Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, and others. The structure is also likely to remain the same, with around eight episodes in the season.
Kirkman has also spoken about the long-term future of the series, suggesting it could run for several more seasons.
