Intel Group India MD met his wife while fine-tuning his driving skills

Intel Group's India MD, Prakash Mallya has an interesting story of how he met his wife. The man who loves to travel around the world found his soulmate in the city of Mumbai.

He told ET Panache, " I had taken car driving lessons from a driving school for a few weeks and felt I was proficient enough. I then bought a car and hired a driver who quit in two weeks. It's then that I realised that I wasn’t comfortable enough to drive long distances. I was living in Thane at that time and Intel office used to be in Bandra-Kurla. So, I took the suburban train for a few days."

One day while Mallya was chatting with his colleague, Anjali who asked him about his new car, he mentioned that he hasn’t been able to use it that much. That was the start of a lifelong conversation between the two.


"Anajali offered her car for me to fine-tune my driving skills and agreed to ride with me as well just as an observer, but I was hesitant to spoil her car. She reassured me that it was a pre-owned one and hence even if I damaged it a bit, it wouldn’t matter," he said.

Mallya got to know Anjali better during those driving lessons and a couple of years later, they decided to get married. "She is the best friend in life, pillar of strength and my hardest critic. I owe a lot to her and am so glad I accepted her offer to make me a good driver," he ended. The couple now travels the world together.
