From horror-comedy to psychological thrillers and slice-of-life storytelling, several new titles are debuting across major OTT platforms. New Malayalam OTT releases of this week

Inspection Bungalow - Zee5
Leading this week’s line-up is Inspection Bungalow, which marks Malayalam cinema’s first step into the horror-comedy series space. The story revolves around Sub-Inspector Vishnu, played by Shabareesh Varma, a policeman trying to outrun a troubled past. He is posted at an eerie, abandoned government property in Aravangad that villagers call the Inspection Bungalow. Before long, unexplained deaths and disturbing sightings begin to haunt the place.


Despite wanting to stay away from danger, Vishnu is forced to confront the unsettling events unfolding around him. He eventually joins hands with Mythili, a paranormal researcher, as the duo attempts to piece together a secret buried for decades.


Poyyamozhi - Simply South / ManoramaMAX
For viewers who enjoy psychological thrillers, Poyyamozhi, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, is now available internationally on Simply South, while already streaming for Indian audiences on ManoramaMAX.

Starring Jaffar Idukki and Nathaniel Madathil, the film follows Jason, who sets out on a forest journey with a local guide named Poyyamozhi. What initially seems like a simple path through the woods soon turns sinister. Jason realises that his guide may not be who he claims to be, and might even be leading him toward danger.

Dude - Netflix
If you’re in the mood for an emotional, youthful drama, Dude is out on Netflix and it offers a coming-of-age story layered with romance and family conflict. Directed by Keerthiswaran, the film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju as cousins Agan and Kural, whose relationship is complicated and tender in equal measure.

Years after Agan rejects Kural’s proposal, he realises he may have had feelings for her all along, only to discover that she is now pregnant with another man’s child. When Kural fears her father’s reaction due to caste differences, Agan steps in to help, staging a fake marriage to protect her and her lover Paari. This film has been dubbed in Malayalam as well.

Coupling - ManoramaMAX
On ManoramaMAX, Coupling brings a contemporary take on heartbreak, healing and unexpected connections. The series follows a young photographer who is still nursing a fresh breakup when his ex-girlfriend hires him to shoot her wedding. Torn between lingering emotions and professional duty, he pushes forward, only to meet someone who might shift his emotional compass once again.

But the new woman he’s drawn to carries her own pain, which complicates their budding relationship.


Telusu Kada - Netflix
Also streaming on Netflix is Telusu Kada, the directorial debut of Neeraja Kona. Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna and Srinidhi Shetty, the film examines the uncertainties of marriage, love and identity.

Varun, a chef trying to move on from a past relationship, agrees to an arranged-marriage match with Anjali. Their peaceful life is disrupted when Anjali learns she cannot conceive. During IVF consultations, she meets Dr Raaga, who surprisingly turns out to be Varun’s ex-girlfriend. When Raaga later volunteers to become a surrogate and moves in with the couple, the film dives into the complexities of trust, jealousy and rekindled bonds.

Avihitham - JioHotstar
Rounding out the list is Avihitham on JioHotstar, directed by Senna Hegde. The director returns with a humorous yet sharp look at small-town curiosity. The film revolves around a group of townspeople who become obsessed with uncovering the details of a mysterious secret affair.
