Indian women take charge of own security: 62% change home locks within 2 yrs, 33% change debit cards pin monthly

It’s a new world, and in this bold new age, women are taking their security in their own hands.

According to a new report, ‘Har Ghar Surakshit,’ women are taking the lead in securing their homes.

“With 55 per cent focused on enhancing home safety, women in India are taking charge of their safety,” highlights the report by Godrej Locks.


The company initiated the research to understand the home and digital safety preparedness of citizens in India. The survey highlights how women are equipping themselves against home safety threats like robberies, thefts, burglary and digital safety threats like phishing, data theft, credit/debit card fraud, among others.

As per the report 79 per cent women are proactively thinking about home safety without any reminders/intimations. Around 62 per cent women are changing home locks within 2 years. While purchasing home safety solutions, 65 per cent women consider safety as the most important feature.

The survey also highlights how women are getting tech savvy while adopting safety measures for their homes. 84 per cent women have kept themselves updated about advanced technology based home safety solutions like digital locks. 93 per cent females are even aware about various technology features that come as part of home safety solutions finds the report.

Women are also focusing on digital safety.

As per the survey, 45 per cent change computer passwords every month or less and 33 per cent change debit cards pin every month or less. Women are becoming more conscious about digital safety threats like phishing, data theft, credit/debit card fraud, among other, and are using technological advancements to their benefit.
