Indian railways' app tracks train schedules on Windows 8 smartphones

It’s about time that the Indian railway system becomes hi-tech as millions travel by trains across the country. Now the railways has just launched an app for Windows 8 mobile users called National Train Enquiry System (NTES).

The app will provide real-time train status updates and people can check for trains running from a particular station. This is the first version of the app released by Indian railways and an Android version is expected soon.

Before this, if one had to check for a particular train then they either had to go to www.indianrail.gov.in/or www.irctc.co.in/. Here 80 per cent of the times users would get a delayed response or no response due to extremely heavy load on these sites.
