While the jury is still out on how the Brexit is going to impact the UK’s economy, former Infosys CFO, Mohandas Pai feels it’s (Brexit) the “best thing to happen to the UK”.

“The UK was a great power when it ruled the world. After the war, when the country became part of EU, it spent all its political capital on EU, ignoring the rest of the world. Now, it’s got its focus on Asia and Africa, that’s where the growth is,” he said at an event organised by the London Mayor’s office in Mumbai recently.

Addressing another pressing concern, Pai said that the UK government should distinguish between immigration and work visas. “What businesses want is work visa, where you work for two-three years and come back [to India]; not to stay there. IT companies need a work visa. We don’t want our people to become citizens of UK,” he said
