While India was represented at the World Cup in Russia by the top brass of India Inc like the Ambanis and the Jindals, who were cheering from the stands, there was another India connect out on the field.
Meet Dr Rob Chakraverty, the doctor at England’s football team. He has been a member of Gareth Southgate’s 10-man backroom staff, joining the team in July 2016 when the FA (Football Association) hired him from British Athletics.
A former resident doctor and lower back injuries specialist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, he describes himself on Twitter as Anglo-Indian. But this isn’t Chakraverty’s first brush with limelight or the world of sports stars — he has played doctor to several cricketers, footballers, rowers and rugby players in England, including UK’s most successful long-distance runner, Mo Farah.

The who's who of the world flocked to Russia to catch the action at the World Cup. From the Ambanis (Mukesh, Nita, and Anant) to the Bachchans (Amitabh and Abhishek), B-town and India Inc jet set to the country to cheer for their favourite team.

Away from the football field, Kane is father to a little girl, Ivy, from his fiancee Kate Goodland. The English captain is set to become daddy again. Goodland, who hasn't travelled to Russia due to her pregnancy, has been showing her support for Kane and the team on Instagram.
