Indian composer Ricky Kej and American artist Stewart Copeland get Grammy nomination for album ‘Divine Tides’

Composer and Grammy winner Ricky Kej and American musician Stewart Copeland (The Police) have been nominated for their latest album ‘Divine Tides’ at the 64th annual Grammy Awards.

The nominations were announced on Sunday by Harvey Mason Jr, CEO of the Recording Academy.

Ricky Kej’s previous Grammy award win came in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Samsara’. Ricky is the youngest person from India to have won a Grammy honour, and only the fourth Indian. Five -time Grammy Award winner Stewart Copeland is the founder and drummer of the legendary British rock group ‘The Police’.


"Although my music is cross-cultural, it has always had strong Indian roots and I am extremely proud that Indian music has been recognized and shortlisted for this prestigious award by The Recording Academy," Kej said in a statement.

“We are very humbled by this announcement,” said Lahari Velu, director of the Bengaluru-based Lahari Music, which produced `Divine Tides.’ The album contains nine songs and eight music videos that were filmed around the world from the exquisite beauty of the Indian Himalayas to the Icy forests of Spain.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on January 31, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. The winners will be announced at this ceremony.
