Indian chess star pulls out of Asian Chess Championship over compulsory headscarf rule

Former world junior girls’ champion and woman grandmaster Soumya Swaminathan has pulled out of the Asian Team Chess Championship, to be held in Hamadan, Iran. Soumya cited Iran’s “compulsory headscarf” rule violative of her personal rights and the reason behind her withdrawal.
