'Indian 2' OTT release date confirmed. Check languages and when and where to watch the Kamal Haasan movie

Kamal Haasan's film "Indian 2" will begin streaming on Netflix from August 9. Directed by S Shankar and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and A Subaskaran, this Tamil film is a sequel to Shankar's 1996 hit "Indian," which also starred Haasan. The digital release announcement was made on Netflix's Instagram and X accounts, noting that the film, which premiered in theaters on July 12 in multiple languages, will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

In "Indian 2," Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who becomes a vigilante against corruption. The film also features Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, S J Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, and Rakul Preet Singh. It received mixed reviews during its theatrical run.



Following "Indian 2," Haasan appeared in the pan-India blockbuster "Kalki 2898 AD," directed by Nag Ashwin.

Megastar Rajinikanth has praised Kamal Haasan’s film "Indian 2," stating that the sequel is turning out well. Directed by Shankar, "Indian 2" features an impressive cast including Haasan, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

"Indian 2," which hit theaters on July 12, is the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 hit "Indian," also directed by Shankar. The sequel marks a significant reunion for Haasan and Shankar after 28 years. The film features a score by Anirudh Ravichander, while the screenplay was crafted by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar.

In "Indian 2," Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, affectionately known as "Indian Thatha," a character dedicated to fighting corruption using the traditional Indian martial art of varma kalai. The original film's music, composed by A R Rahman, is succeeded by Anirudh's soundtrack in the sequel.

The film is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies and also stars S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover, and the late Nedumudi Venu. The release of "Indian 2" is seen as a comeback for director Shankar, whose collaboration with writer Sujatha had produced numerous hits, including "Enthiran" and "Shivaji: The Boss."
