India Inc bids emotional farewell to MSD: Mahindra recalls Dhoni's hairstyle, 3 lessons by the cricketer

NEW DELHI: Social media is buzzing with tributes for Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni/MSD) after he announced his retirement from international cricket with a cryptic Instagram message on Saturday.

India Inc bosses took to Twitter to remember the former Team India skipper. These glowing tributes by corporate India to the World Cup-winning captain will make you nostalgic and proud of India's 'Captain Cool'.

The Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra began his Monday morning with a special tribute to India's most successful captain who led the country to World Cup triumphs in 2007 (T20) and 2011 (ODI).

He admitted to not being a cricket expert, but recalled first noticing him after his 'mother pointed him out on TV intrigued because of his hairstyle. While much has been said about what Dhoni brought to the game, the 65-year-old business tycoon said that MSD reminded people to be authentic and bold, take risks and stand out to make an impact.

The RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka also posted a Hindi poem on Twitter. His tweet was wordplay with Kishore Kumar's song 'Dukhi Man Mere, Sun Mera Kehna' from 1956 film 'Funtoosh'.


Radhika Gupta, the MD & CEO of Edelweiss AMC, thanked Dhoni for being a brilliant cricketer and a world-class leader.


Sajjan Jindal, the Chairman and MD of JSW Group, sent out best wishes to the cricketer. "His ability to deliver under pressure and put the team before himself made him an internationally respected icon. India will miss him on the field," he wrote.

Billionaire Gautam Adani pointed out that Dhoni inspired millions from small towns and humble homes to dream.

Vedanta Ltd Vice-Chairman Navin Agarwal, brother of mining baron Anil Agarwal, recalled his meeting with the cricketing legend.


E-commerce player Snapdeal's CEO Kunal Bahl said Dhoni gave inspiration to everyone to be calm and humble.


Tech Mahindra CEO and Managing Director CP Gurnani, who called himself an ardent Dhoni fan, said leaders never retire but choose a different platform.
