In Twitterverse map, Jammu now makes a return trip to India

So it must be especially unnerving when the microblogging site became a trending topic on its own platform in February after it showed the region of Jammu & Kashmir as parts of Pakistan and China. Reportedly, when using location services to tag tweets, if one typed Jammu, suggestions placed it within Pakistan. But it didn't end there. Apparently, when users typed Jammu & Kashmir in the field, Twitter showed the state as part of People's Republic of China as well.

In an email response to ETPanache's query about the inaccuracy being corrected since, a Twitter spokesperson said, "The error has been rectified at our end."

However, it remained tight-lipped about questions regarding future steps to ensure that such an error is avoided and learnings from this incident. "We won't be able to comment on the other questions, unfortunately," the spokesperson said.

Turns out, it's no fun being in the Twitterati's line of fire.
