In just 4 days, Sai Pallavi-Siva Karthikeyan's ‘Amaran’ makes into box-office record books

Sai Pallavi's latest film is achieving remarkable success at the box office. Amaran, the Tamil biographical drama featuring Sivakarthikeyan, is on the verge of surpassing the ₹90 crore milestone just five days after its theatrical debut.

Sai Pallavi’s new movie is currently making history at the box office. ‘Amaran’ the Tamil biographical drama, which also stars Sivakarthikeyan, is about to cross the Rs 90 crore mark at the box-office within five days of theatrical release. As per a report by the box-office tracking portal Sacnilk, the war drama has earned an impressive Rs 88.62 crore so far.

According to a report from Koimoi.com, the film has achieved gross earnings of R100.89 crore. It has also garnered a respectable Rs 43 crore in overseas revenue. Thus, the total worldwide earnings of the movie stand at Rs 143.89 crore.

About ‘Amaran’

Amaran (translated as The Immortal) is a Tamil-language biographical action war film from India, set to release in 2024. It is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International in collaboration with Sony Pictures Films India. The movie features Sivakarthikeyan in the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, with supporting performances from Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose. It is based on the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which includes a chapter dedicated to Mukund.


The film was first announced in January 2022 under the working title Sivakarthikeyan 21, marking it as his 21st film in a leading role, with the official title revealed in February 2024. Filming began in May 2023, taking place intermittently in Kashmir, followed by sessions in Chennai and later in Pondicherry concluded a year later. The soundtrack for the film is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography by CH Sai and editing done by R. Kalaivanan.

The film explores the heartfelt romance between Major Mukund Varadharajan, depicted by Sivakarthikeyan, and Indhu, portrayed by Pallavi. Major Mukund Varadharajan was an officer in the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army. He was awarded the Ashok Chakra posthumously for his courageous actions during a counterterrorism operation with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu & Kashmir. Amaran is his official biopic in Tamil, inspired by the book India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
