Ikkis Comes to OTT Without Rental Fee
After a theatrical run earlier this year, Ikkis is now ready to reach a wider audience at home. The biographical war drama, which marked the final on-screen appearance of veteran actor Dharmendra, will be available to stream without any rental charge from February 26, 2026.

The film had first arrived in cinemas on January 1 after its earlier December 25 release plan was pushed ahead. It later began streaming on Amazon Prime Video, but only as a rental title. Viewers were required to pay Rs 349 in addition to their subscription. That changes this week, as the platform has decided to make the film available free for subscribers.

When and where to watch Ikkis

Ikkis will stream on Prime Video from February 26, 2026, at no extra cost. Until now, it was locked behind a rental fee despite being part of the platform’s catalogue. The decision to remove the pay-per-view barrier is expected to bring in more viewers, especially those who had waited for a regular streaming release.

The film is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and is directed by Sriram Raghavan. The screenplay is written by Sriram Raghavan along with Pooja Ladha Surti and Arijit Biswas.

The story behind Ikkis

The film tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a young officer who lost his life at the age of 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 India–Pakistan War. He was later awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery. At the time, he became one of the youngest recipients of the country’s highest military honour.

Agastya Nanda plays Arun Khetarpal in what is his debut film. The narrative follows the events leading up to the battle and shows how the young officer continued to fight even after his tank was hit. The focus, however, is not only on combat. The film attempts to look at the human side of war, keeping the treatment restrained rather than loud or overly dramatic.

Dharmendra appears as Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun’s father. His presence adds emotional weight, and many viewers have described it as a moving farewell performance.

The cast also includes Simar Bhatia, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher and Jaideep Ahlawat in important roles.
