Prasad, who hails from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, had secured a role as a Business Analyst in Product at Torus Digital during campus placements in December 2024. As per IIT Bombay’s placement rules, accepting the offer meant he was no longer eligible to apply for subsequent roles through the campus system. Confident in his decision, Prasad began preparing for the job with full commitment after receiving his official offer letter and completing onboarding formalities.
However, what followed was a sequence of abrupt setbacks. First, his joining date, initially set for June 2, 2025, was pushed back by a month. Then, in a move that blindsided him, the company revoked the offer entirely on the original joining day, citing “change in requirements for future business” as the reason.
In his LinkedIn post, Prasad shared the emotional toll of the experience, saying that he had turned down other interviews and paused his job hunt, believing his future was secure. Now left with no offer and limited options post-placement season, he is actively seeking a job again.

One user called the situation “incredibly unfair,” while another applauded Prasad for his grace and clarity in navigating such a blow. Many professionals have also offered to share his resume within their networks in the hope of helping him land a more secure and well-deserved opportunity. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
