According to media reports, the latest WhatsApp update has a bug which is automatically changing the mute duration from one week to eight hours.
If you updated instant-messaging platform WhatsApp on your phone recently with latest version 2.22.18.76, then you must be facing an error when trying to mute group or individual messages.

According to media reports, the latest WhatsApp update has a bug which is automatically changing the mute duration from one week to eight hours.

The error is specific to the 'one week' mute option as users do not seem to be facing any problems while choosing the duration of eight hour or always when trying to mute the chat.

There's also another factor. Only iOS users who updated WhatsApp with the latest version - 2.22.18.76 - are facing the issue with the mute feature.

Those who use the Meta-owned instant messaging platform on their Android smartphones do not seem to be facing any issues with the service.

The update version in question was rolled out on August 31 this year which offers tons of improvements.

As per the report in WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will stop releasing software support for iPhones operating on iOS 10 and iOS 11.

Basically, Apple users who own iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c need to make a note of this and either upgrade their smartphone or move on to another instant-messaging platform.
