If they watched my film, they would have loved it: Ravi Jadhav

“The film I directed may not be there, but I will still be in Goa. The film I acted in, Kachcha Limbu, is still part of the Indian Panorama.”

If they watched my film, they would have loved it: Ravi Jadhav
Ravi Jadhav is in Panjim, Goa, shooting for the Marathi version of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa of which he is a judge. But his Marathi movie Nude has been thrown out of Goa’s IFFI by the I&B Ministry.

“I had only read media reports that the jury wanted it to be the opening film of the Indian Panorama. I thought it was a great honour. But then I heard the film was removed from the list by the ministry because it was incomplete. I had submitted a screener of the film, which is a common practice in film festivals. I know how to submit a film to a festival. The end credits needed to be put and it is done at the end when the media sponsors are all finalised. That is just a day’s work. I have the complete film now,” he says.

Jadhav, 45, an alumnus of JJ School of Art, says his film is about a nude model in an art school. “The way art students look at a nude model is different from how the world outside looks at a naked woman. Their points of view are different. I was an art student. I know how to present the subject with dignity and integrity.”

“I had high hopes with Prasoon Joshi as the CBFC chairman and Piyush Pandey as a member of the IFFI Steering Committee. They are like my gurus,” says Jadhav, who worked as creative director of DRAFTFCB+Ulka Advertising for 12 years.“Frankly, I don’t think anyone in the ministry watched my film. If they did, they would have loved it,” he says.
