Idhayam Murali OTT release date: Where and when will the Tamil romantic drama, featuring Fahadh Faasil's cameo, stream online after theatrical run

Atharvaa's latest Tamil romantic drama Idhayam Murali has opened in theatres, and many moviegoers are now waiting to know when the film will make its way to OTT. The coming-of-age romance, which released on July 10, 2026, is currently running in cinemas and has been drawing attention for its emotional story centred on one-sided love. While the theatrical run is still underway, reports have already pointed to the platform where the film is expected to stream after leaving theatres.

At present, Idhayam Murali is available only in theatres. The makers have not announced a digital release date yet as their focus remains on the film's box office run.

According to multiple media reports, Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film. However, neither the streaming platform nor the filmmakers have confirmed when the movie will premiere online.


If the film follows the usual theatrical window adopted by recent Tamil releases, viewers can expect its OTT debut only after its cinema run concludes. Until an official announcement is made, audiences will have to wait for confirmation regarding the release date.

A coming-of-age romance built around one-sided love

Directed by debutant Aakash Baskaran, who has also co-written and produced the film under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali tells the story of a young man whose life is shaped by the emotions of one-sided love. The film follows his journey through different stages of life while exploring relationships, friendship and family bonds.

Speaking about the film during its title launch event earlier this year, Atharvaa explained the emotional idea behind the story.

"To be honest, the joy, the sadness, the disappointment that one experiences in one-side love is much more significant than what one experiences in a double-side love relationship and is unforgettable in life. We wanted to showcase all this and dedicate a film to one-sided love."

The actor also clarified why the film carries the title Idhayam Murali.

"We did not keep this title Idhayam Murali for the sake of my dad. In the film, I have an Idhayam Murali within me. I have a one-side love."

The teaser released before the film's launch showed Atharvaa's character living in the US, where friends refer to him as "Idhayam Murali." The story later follows his return home for a family wedding, where the emotional journey unfolds.

The film features Atharvaa in the lead role alongside Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan. The supporting cast includes Natty Subramaniam, Ramki, Thaman S, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar and Pragya Nagra. Fahadh Faasil also appears in a special cameo.

Apart from directing and co-writing the project, Aakash Baskaran has produced the film under the Dawn Pictures banner. Thaman S has composed the music, while Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai have handled cinematography. Editing has been done by Pradeep E. Ragav, with M.R. Karthik Rajkumar serving as the production designer. The soundtrack has been released under the Think Music label.
