Digital or analogue? Rohan Murty does not buy into the tech hype easily
Here’s one bright mind who doesn’t buy into tech hype easily— Rohan Murty. The founder of the Murty Classical Library is emphatic that there is too much euphoria surrounding artificial intelligence, or even digitisation of the economy.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai a couple of months ago, Murty said, “I’m bred to believe in the superiority of silicon over carbon, but in my limited opinion, there is too much euphoria about what digital will do to us.”

Murty said that he is even sceptical about India turning into a cashless economy anytime soon. “It’s harder to change consumer behaviour. On the technology front, we have many unsolved fundamental challenges. Very frankly, I don’t know how people get on TV and say it’ll all be done. I would not declare the victory of digital in this fairly analogue world just yet.”
