'I will honor you forever': Chad Lowe's daughter Mabel remembers younger sister Fiona after her death at 13

Chad Lowe's eldest daughter, Mabel, aged 17, has put a post on social media remembering her 13-year-old sister, Fiona, who tragically passed away earlier this week. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, featuring pictures of the two sisters taken through their childhood, Mabel wrote: "I love you so much, Fiona."

'Hope your mind is at ease'

Mabel said in her post: "I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now." She added that she would honor Fiona forever and keep her memory alive. "I love you, I hope you knew just how much."

Fiona Lowe's death

Fiona passed away at the age of 13 in a hospital on Tuesday (September 29), and the cause of her death was determined to be suicide, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, USA Today reported.

The Lowe family announced Fiona's death in a statement to the People magazine the same day. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said, adding: "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time." The family described Fiona as a "loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."

Family lost home in wildfire

In early 2025, the Lowe family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades Fire. Writing about his daughters at the time, Chad shared on Instagram: "The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."

Chad, 58, and his wife, Kim Painter, 52, had welcomed Fiona -- their second child -- on November 16, 2012. The couple, who were married in 2010, share two other daughters -- Mabel and 10-year-old Nixie Barbara Lowe.

Chad Lowe -- the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe -- is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Jesse McKenna on the comedy drama series Life Goes On (1989-1993). He has appeared in several other projects, including Pretty Little Liars, Melrose Place, 24, Supergirl, and 9-1-1: Lone Star. His wife Painter is a television producer and casting director.
