I was told I'd find a bride in Deepika Padukone: Russell Brand
International entertainer Russell Brand was in Bengaluru on Saturday. Local comic Sanjay Manaktala opened the set, followed by Ajay Samson and Vir Das.Vir set the stage for the headline act with his antics and repertoire of relevant topics such as the Maggi controversy, Yoga Day and his dissection of Twilight among others.

However, Bengaluru reserved it's biggest cheer for Russell, who sauntered on the stage on the beats of Punjabi music. Wearing a Krishna t-shirt and rudraksh mala, he cut a handsome figure.

His jokes on his wedding, hate mails, British monarchy, his wayward days, censorship, colonization, and his love for Indian dieties, interspersed by pictures of him with many famous celebrities such as Queen Elizabeth and Dalai Lama on the giant LED screens, found favour with the young crowd.

He struck a chord with the audience when he spoke about Rahul Dravid, Vijay Mallya and Deepika Padukone. He said, "I was told if I wanted alcohol I should go to Vijay Mallya and if I wanted a bride, I'd find one in Deepika Padukone." The audience went crazy when he went into the crowd to interact with people and also, when he called a few members of them on the stage towards the end.
