Christopher Nolan is basking in the success of his latest offering, The Odyssey. The film, based on Greek poet Homer’s epic poem of the same name, premiered globally on July 17. As part of the promotions, Nolan recently appeared on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon where he answered some questions related to the movie, the cast as well as his personal life. During the candid conversation, the Interstellar director made a rather shocking revelation. Nolan admitted that neither doe she allow mobile phones on his films sets nor does he own a smartphone himself.

Christopher Nolan’s confession came to light when Jimmy Fallon asked the director whether the rumours of his smartphone rules were indeed true or not. Interestingly, the interaction also disclosed that Nolan does not even have an email address. After Nolan said that the rumours were true, a surprised Fallon questioned him, how the director manages to co-ordinate with his team and make these giant-scale movies without texts or emails.


In his response, Christopher Nolan shared that he is always surrounded by people who lends a helpful hand whenever he needs it. As a result, every information he needs directly comes to him without even trying. ‘I am helping me all the time, so it's like, it would actually be pretty hard for me to get away from the information that people are trying to give me,’ Nolan noted.

When asked whether he is ever tempted to get a smartphone, Christopher Nolan’s blunt answer was, ‘I think I would be horribly addicted to it if I had it’, adding that he does use a flip phone whenever he is travelling. Elaborating on the topic, Nolan pointed out that for him, having a smartphone means losing his creative thinking time when he is simply sitting idle, looking out of the window and wondering what his next film should be.

‘I think I would lose those pockets of time that I really value where you are just thinking, you know? Just sort of looking out the window and thinking about what your next film might be,’ said Christopher Nolan. Meanwhile, Nolan’s The Odyssey, the film features an ensemble cast comprising of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton and Charlize Theron in important roles.
