'I prefer diamonds.' Sushmita Sen shuts down haters calling her 'gold digger'; her father says 'not aware' of her relationship with Lalit Modi
The former Miss Universe called the negative comments and trolling "heartbreaking".

After Modi shared a couple of pictures of the duo on Instagram, making their relationship social media official, several people started trolling the actress. But Sen is having none of that and rightly so!
The 47-year-old actress responded to haters in a witty manner. "I dig deeper than God ... and I've always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! and yes I still buy them myself!!!" Sen said.
The 1994 Miss Universe pageant winner called the negative comments and trolling "heartbreaking" and said it was amusing to see unknown friends and acquaintances passing comments on her personal life.
"The so-called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip. The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met….all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character…monetising the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!! Ah these geniuses!!! Sen wrote alongside a picture of her looking at the ocean from her infinity pool.
Modi, the London-based founder of the Indian Premier League, on Thursday night set social media abuzz with a tweet on his relationship with the 'Aarya' star. He had referred to Sen as his "better half" and said the relationship marked “a new beginning”.
After Modi, 56, shared the tweet earlier this week, speculations about his and Sen's wedding started doing the rounds on social media. In a follow-up tweet, the businessman had clarified they were just "dating". Soon Sen’s father and retired Indian Air Force officer Shubeer Sen, also reacted to the rumours and said he has absolutely no knowledge and was only informed by media persons.
"I do not have any knowledge or information about this development. I had a telephonic conversation with my daughter on Friday morning only. But she did not tell me anything on this count. I was informed after the tweet from Lalit Modi only by media persons. Since I have absolutely no information on this development, I am unable to offer any comment," Wing Commander Sen (retd) told a section of the media persons, as quoted by IANS.
He further said that during his conversation with Sen, there was no mention of Modi even once. "If this happens, it will be an important turn in my daughter's life. I will surely come to know of that in future. But as of now, I have no knowledge on this count," he said.
