Karan Johar opens up about Rani and Aditya's wedding
Karan jokingly described Aditya as Bollywood’s “invisible man,” pointing out how little he is seen or heard despite being one of the industry’s most powerful figures. According to Karan, Aditya is extremely protective of his privacy and avoids situations where media attention could follow. He recalled being told by Aditya that even visiting friends’ homes felt risky because of the possibility of the press showing up. Karan said this intense focus on privacy has always made him slightly nervous around Aditya. The filmmaker then shared an anecdote from the time of Rani and Aditya’s wedding, which was held in complete secrecy in Italy. Karan revealed that only 18 people were invited, and he was clearly warned that any information leaked to the media would be blamed on him. He admitted that the pressure was enormous, especially since his film 2 States was releasing around the same time, and his sudden travel raised eyebrows.
Things became even more stressful during his journey to Italy. Karan recalled that he told people he was flying to Manchester to avoid suspicion. However, his plan almost fell apart when he unexpectedly ran into legendary Rishi Kapoor at the airport lounge. Rishi Kapoor questioned him about his travel plans, and Karan admitted he was “lying through his teeth” until an airline announcement revealed his Italy-bound flight. He said Rishi Kapoor quickly caught on and questioned him about the lie, leaving him extremely anxious.
