'I don't have a pimple, I have a dimple': Yami Gautam's audition-day confusion that the actress never forgets

Yami Gautam has made a name for herself in Bollywood as a leading lady in both commercial and content-driven films. The National Award-winning actress has been seen in many blockbusters and critically acclaimed films such as Kaabil, Haq, OMG 2, etc. Gautam made her Bollywood debut with the 2012 romantic comedy Vicky Donor opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Made on a budget of just Rs 4 crore, the unconventional rom-com was a critical and commercial success, earning more than Rs 68 crore. In a 2017 interview with the Times of India, the actress recalled her modelling days and how an audition turned awkward for her.

She reminisced about how she went to an audition, and someone told her to touch up her pimple, and she was a bit miffed and said she did not have a pimple but a dimple.

“I once went for an audition and was sitting amongst all these models waiting when someone said to me, 'Can you please touch up your pimple?' I said, I don't have a pimple; I have a dimple,' but I thought to myself, 'Was that the reason I was not getting ads?'" But luckily, Vinil Mathew selected me, and I was in that ad for Breeze. Mumbai is a place where you need to adapt very fast and yet retain your own personality. It's not just about achieving success; the journey is equally important for me,” she recalled.


The actress also opened up about her love life in that interview; she said that although she has had male attention, she did not have an affair. She admitted she had a crush on a Kashmiri boy whose name she did not know. Ironically, Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar, whom she married in 2021, hails from a Kashmiri Pandit family. In 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Vedavid. As per recent reports, the couple is planning to shift from Mumbai to Himachal Pradesh, where she has a grand 100-year-old house.
