I cannot ask for free paintings every time: Siddhartha Roy Burman
Siddhartha Roy Burman, the promoter of Khadim India, is an art collector, and it’s probably not surprising, given that Burman comes from a family of prolific artists. He is the nephew of Sakti Burman, brother of Jayasri Burman and brother-in-law of Paresh Maity. One would think that having a bouquet of artists in the family, buying their art must be easy. Not really, says Burman, adding that he doesn’t get any preferential treatment while buying his sister’s works.

“Earlier, her (Jayasri’s) paintings were free, but not anymore. Even I have to stand in queue and purchase it from the art gallery. I cannot ask for free paintings every time,” he says with a laugh. His latest acquisition is one painting by Jayasri, and two by T Vaikuntam. The artworks adorn his office wall.
