‘I am a mother, I am paranoid’: Kareena Kapoor reveals why she worries about AI’s impact on sons Taimur and Jeh

Kareena Kapoor seems to be dealing with some parenting problems like most mothers. And it has to do with children’s excessive phone habits nowadays. Kareena, who got married to Saif Ali Khan in 2012, is a proud parent to sons Taimur, 9, and Jeh, 5. The actress, who will next be seen in the investigative crime thriller Daayra, has now opened up about how she tries her best to keep mobile phones, laptops and other digital gadgets away from her kids. Kareena also shared her concerns about the growing influence of AI on children.

Kareena recently appeared for an interview with SCREEN, where the Jab We Met actress talked about how she is the ‘hyper’ parent while Saif is the ‘calmer’ one. She revealed that while neither Taimur nor Jeh has access to their own mobile phones, Taimur insists that his nanny’s device is his phone.

Kareena added that even though she reminds Taimur that his nanny’s phone is off-limits, the 9-year-old wants to tell his friends that the device belongs to him. In fact, Taimur argues that both his parents talk on the phone, while he has none. The actress further confessed that she is worried ‘about the whole digital thing’. Sometimes, when Taimur and Jeh relentlessly play games on the phones, she is forced to snatch them away from their hands.

Kareena Kapoor on AI and its impact on her kids

Kareena continued that Saif feels she is being too ‘hyper’ about the issue and often tells her to relax. However, the actress believes that she needs to remain vigilant when it comes to their children’s digital habits. She revealed that this is perhaps the only issue the couple argues about, adding that she wishes she could keep Taimur and Jeh in their kid era forever.

In the same conversation, Kareena also highlighted how AI and technology can negatively impact her kids. While she is open to ‘move with time’ and embrace technological advancements, she is not keen on taking it to a dangerous level. ‘We have to find a way around it,’ said Kareena, adding that, being a mother, there are certain things about AI that disturb her and make her paranoid. For her kids' well-being, Kareena advocates banning certain applications or functions.

Workwise, Kareena has collaborated with director Meghna Gulzar for Daayra. The film also stars Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in an important role. Daayra, inspired by true events, is scheduled to premiere on the big screens on September 18.
