NEW DELHI: Korean auto major Hyundai on Monday launched sports utility vehicle Tucson priced between Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Tucson is positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe. Hyundai will bring in a fourth model - compact SUV code named QXI - in 2018 to complete its portfolio of sports utility vehicles.

Y K Koo, managing director and chief executive officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) said, "The growth of the SUV market is a global trend. In India, the SUV market is growing by 32 per cent. The Tucson will be positioned strategically between Creta and Santa Fe in the premium SUV market. The QXI will come in next as an entry model in the SUV segment."

Hyundai said the premium SUV market in India, in fact, growing at a faster pace at 51 per cent. The Creta too is clocking strong demand. "We have increased the Creta production three times since its launch in July 2015 and October 2016", added Koo.

On the side, Tuscon gets bulging wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, black plastic cladding with silver side skirt and chrome lining along the window panes. The rear gets split LED taillights, rear spoiler, compact tailgate and sculpted rear bumper with black plastic cladding and faux silver skid plates.
