LONDON: The next role actor Hugh Jackman really wants to play is that of "crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin.

The 46-year-old Australian actor and Irwin, who died in 2006, were good friends, reported Digital Spy.

"I would definitely consider that. I knew Steve, and Steve was an amazing, amazing man. I mean, everybody loved him but I had a relationship behind the camera with him, just a brief one, but that interaction really, really touched me," Jackman said.

Irwin's daughter Bindi has already given her nod to the " Wolverine" star playing the role of her father in the biopic, calling him, "loved, dependable and internationally renowned."

Nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin died after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb.
