HTC is planning a second RE action camera

HTC's attempt to take on GoPro with a, err, plastic periscope wasn't its finest hour. But now, according to its North Asia president Jack Tong, it plans to give it a second try.

Speaking to Focus Taiwan, Tong said that HTC will launch a new standalone camera next year. An attempt to grow its product range in the face of dwindling smartphone sales, there are no further details available about what to expect in the second iteration just yet.

We should expect a wait: the original Rs 12,000 (approx) camera only went on sale last month in the US, and goes on sale tomorrow in Taiwan. Talk about getting ahead of yourself, Jack.
