HS Prannoy wants to own a Jaguar XF, says it's the best car available right now

The badminton star bought his first car, Hyundai Accent, in 2017 for about Rs 3 lakh.

HS Prannoy already owns a blue Maruti Baleno RS, and a white Jeep Compass.
Badminton star HS Prannoy, known by the monicker ‘beast’ on the court, wants to channel this energy on the road as well:

First car
“My first car was a silver Hyundai Accent, that I got for about Rs 3 lakh in 2017. I started driving only recently. It was tough initially, since I learnt driving in that car.

“But there are memories associated with it that I will never forget. Like when my friends were teaching me how to drive. They taught me in regular city traffic. It was fun, but I banged into a divider while taking a U-turn. The car got a huge dent all over its front side. But it’s something that made me a better driver.

“I gave that car away after it got old. The way I drove it, it became even older!”

Current car
“I drive a blue Maruti Baleno RS, and a white Jeep Compass.”

HS Prannoy said that the best way to maintain your car is to clean it every day.

Dream car
“This is a tough question. There are so many cars out on the road. But the one I really want to buy is a Jaguar XF. I have always been a big Jaguar fan. It looks hot, and I feel it’s one of the best cars right now. At a higher range, there are obviously better cars. But the segment which I am looking at, this is the best that’s available.”

Who I like to discuss cars with
“There are a couple of friends with whom I discuss cars. One is Rohan Kapoor, a junior of mine who plays with me. The other is Sanker P Gopan, a senior who used to play badminton before me. I like to talk cars with them and take them along when I go for test drives, or if I am looking for something new.”

“The best way to maintain your car is to clean it every day. This is something I have realised over the years. If you can keep your car clean, it is beneficial in the long run. Luckily, I live in an apartment flat, so there are people who clean the car for me. I can see the difference it makes. I am very happy that my cars are clean and shiny every day.”

What I’d name my car
“I have always been a fan of big muscle cars. In fact, that is why Jaguar has been my favourite. On the court, people call me ‘Beast’. I think it’s the name I would like my car to have as well.”
