HP has updated its 2019 OMEN line-up of gaming laptops with the latest generation Intel processors and Nvidia RTX range of graphics cards. Our review unit of the Omen 15 came with 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU with 8GB memory and dual storage - 512GB SSD + 1TB 7,200rpm hard drive.

Design continues to be focussed towards delivering a cool quotient for gamers. The top lid has a two tone design - half with plain matte finish while the other half has brushed metal finish. On the top centre is the Omen logo in silver that stands out although we would have loved it more if it was backlit. You get matte finish on the display bezels while the palm rest gets a brushed metal finish. The heat vents are placed on the back of the laptop and there is one on the right side for cooling.

The only trouble is that the laptop does tend to heat up with just half hour of gaming the CPU went up to 95 degrees while the GPU was at 85 degrees.

We loved the keyboard with customisable lighting zones and that you also get a numpad for added functionality. Being a gaming laptop, HP has ensured you get enough ports for use - 3 x full size USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, Thunderbolt, HDMI, gigabit ethernet, SD card reader and a combined headphone/microphone jack.

Like the previous generation, the Omen 15 continues with a 15.6-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The screen has a refresh rate of 144hz which is another feature a lot of gamers desire as it gives them advantage during first person shooter games. The screen has sleek bezels on left and right side but the top and bottom still has thick bezels - this helps cut down the size of the laptop to some extent.

In terms of performance, the hardware delivers as expected. There was no issue playing any game at highest graphic setting possible. We played the common games such as Counter Strike: GO and PUBG as well as hardware intensive games such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The Omen 15 breezed through all the games without any frame drops. The only trouble is that the laptop does tend to heat up with just half hour of gaming the CPU went up to 95 degrees while the GPU was at 85 degrees. In long hours of gaming this could lead to drop in performance.

Other than the performance, there are a few other things that we liked about the Omen 15. First are the fantastic dual speakers - they are loud enough to use the laptop as a music player in a medium size room. Second is the keyboard with anti-ghosting keys which means you don't miss out on stroke while gaming. Third is the compact size and weight charger - its 290 grams but it's still smaller in size compared to what we usually see with gaming laptops. Last are the software enhancements with the HP Omen command centre that lets you monitor the system temperature as well as adjust the lighting and performance. The one big gripe is the poor quality webcam - considering the number of gamers that stream themselves while gaming is increasing rapidly, the poor webcam is a let-down.

At the time of writing, the HP Omen 15 is available on HP's own website at a price of Rs 1,74,990 which makes it one of the cheapest options with the RTX 2070 GPU. The closest competitor is the Asus ROG Strix Scar III priced at Rs 1,99,990 which gives you Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, RTX 2070 with 8GB memory but with 1TB SSD and a 240Hz screen.

The company has plastered every available square inch of the inside of the ZenBook Pro Duo with a touch screen. There’s a 14-inch 4K OLED touch display where laptop screens typically go, and then there’s another 14-inch-wide display above the keyboard. And with up to an Intel Core i9 and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 inside, this laptop is equal parts raw power and futuristic design.

Unlike the recent desktop models that mostly follow the Mac Pro’s compact, cylindrical mould, the Prestige P100 is refreshingly original. It’s thin and white, with a unique triangle geometry on the sides that is intended to evoke ‘galactic nebula’, according to MSI.
