With the trend of slim and compact laptops catching on, HP has launched its new Elite Dragonfly series - a portable and lightweight 2-in-1 convertible with a 360-degree design. The laptop is under 1 kg and can easily be lifted with one hand.
The Dragonfly’s display is securely attached to a CNC magnesium chassis that also holds the keyboard panel with speaker grilles on two sides and a touchpad.
On the right of the chassis are two Type-C charging ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an HDMI port while the left edge carries a USB port, power button, Kingston lock, and a SIM tray.
The device variant we reviewed runs on Windows 10 Pro, is backed by 16 GB RAM and powered by a 1.9 GHz Intel Core-i7 8665U processor.

HP has added a shutter to the camera to eliminate the chance of a hacker snooping in through the webcam.
The laptop comes with a backlit keyboard panel that makes for comfortable and quiet typing. HP Elite Dragonfly takes about 90-100 minutes for a complete charge. The Dragonfly’s 1,000 nits bright 13.3 inch display also has an inbuilt privacy filter which blocks the view for those prying into the screen.
The only annoying issue about the display is that it is reflective.

The laptop’s face recognition tech worked most of the time except when tested with a face without glasses when the registered face wore spectacles.
The laptop takes about 90-100 minutes for a complete charge. The battery drain is fairly steady till it reaches 30% but after that, it starts going out faster. Also, the right side of the keyboard (including the speaker area) warms up a little while charging.

We did not face any issues like the screen freezing up or hanging when working on the laptop with over 30 tabs open in the background. The laptop did hang when we tried minimising the in-game window to watch YouTube. Overall, there were few instances of the system lagging when working with over 30 tabs.
On full volume, its Bang & Olufsen speakers are loud enough for a small room.
The Elite Dragonfly is meant for business users and, as such, the factors that work in its favour are a sturdy and light design, compact size, responsive and fluid touch input and 16 GB RAM that can smoothly handle the load of multitasking.
