How to turn job loss into opportunity? Bengaluru Oracle employee, who lost job in latest layoff, has a lesson on handling sudden crisis
The latest layoffs at Oracle have left many employees dealing with sudden job loss and uncertainty. Among them, a Bengaluru-based manager saw his 16-year career come to an abrupt end, highlighting the emotional and mental strain that follows such ...

Narsha, who worked as a Group Manager in software development, shared his experience publicly, describing how quickly things changed. His role ended as part of a broader restructuring exercise, which the company linked to organisational changes and shifting priorities.
“My journey with Oracle came to an unexpected end yesterday during the layoffs,” he said.
The timing and manner of communication seem to have made the situation harder for many employees. Reports suggest that emails informing staff of layoffs were sent early in the morning, with little prior warning, and in some cases, access to internal systems was cut off soon after.
The mental shift no one prepares for
For Narsha, the real impact was not just professional but deeply personal. He explained how the sudden loss of routine affects the mind in ways people don’t anticipate.“It is a strange transition to wake up and realise your daily priorities have shifted overnight. While my mind still instinctively drafts to-do lists for projects that are no longer mine, I’m navigating the same heavy questions as many others who got laid off, thinking about family, finances, and the future.”
That line reflects what many in the tech industry are currently going through. The job is gone, but the habit of work, the structure of the day, and the sense of purpose don’t disappear immediately. That gap is where the stress builds.
Choosing perspective over frustration
Instead of focusing only on the exit, Narsha said he is trying to look at the longer journey.“Rather than focusing on how this chapter ended, I am choosing to celebrate everything the last 16 years gave me. Oracle shaped me as a leader, and I am deeply grateful for the teammates and partners, some of whom became lifelong friends.”
It’s a tone that stood out online as well. Many others facing layoffs expressed frustration, but his approach leaned more toward acceptance and reflection, which some professionals said helped them relate to the situation better.
Turning uncertainty into opportunity
Like many others impacted, Narsha is now actively looking for new roles and putting his experience out there. “I’m ready for a new challenge… If you’re hiring or have a lead, I’d love to connect.”As per the Times of India, the layoffs are believed to be tied to a larger shift within Oracle as it increases spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres. Industry estimates suggest tens of thousands of roles may be affected globally, with a significant number in India.
Severance packages have been offered, typically calculated based on years of service, along with additional components like notice pay and leave encashment. However, some reports indicate conditions attached to payouts, including signing formal exit documents.
