Rajasthan minister Shambhu Singh Khetasar has provided social media with a pee-p show. A photo of the mantriji relieving himself in public, has gone viral, making tongues wag and eyebrows raise.

Unfazed by such unsolicited attention, the hon’ble minister has responded by saying, in effect, that he was only doin’ what comes naturally, and that such practices are part and parcel of an ‘age-old tradition’.

The mantri, who is also the chairman of the Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation, reaped a bumper crop of criticism from his own party people for disregarding the caveat contained in the paraphrased proverb that you should loo before you leak.

His insalubrious solecism was all the more newsworthy, for he excused himself saying that there wasn’t a toilet for kilometres around, a revelation that flew in the face of sarkari claims to have made 27 of the state’s 31 districts open defecation-free.

While claiming that there was nothing ‘unclean’ about doing what is idiomatically known as Number One — as distinct from Number Two — in the open, the minister didn’t actually promote the therapeutic benefits of the product in question, as a former prime minister famously was wont to do, causing much comment about what wits labelled as Chateau la Soo-soo.

Making waves by making water seems to be the privilege of the powers-that-pee.
