Salman Khan has spoken about a growing problem involving AI-generated videos of actors, after fake clips and manipulated voices can make it appear that celebrities have said or done things they never actually did. During the September 27 episode of Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar, the actor discussed how such videos can be mistaken for real content and then spread on social media.

Salman Khan explains how fake AI videos spread

Speaking to the Bigg Boss 20 contestants, Salman pointed out that AI is being used to create videos involving several people, including himself. He also highlighted how someone's voice can be taken and manipulated to make it appear that they have made a particular statement.

“Kisi ne aapki AI voice leke dub karke kisi ko gali bakdi. You know what they're doing? AI videos bana rahe hai yeh. Bohot saare logon ke and even I am there in AI video,” Salman said.


The actor then stated on what happens after such content is created. He said some people may not know that a video is AI-generated and could therefore share it believing that the incident shown in it actually happened.

“Toh chalo some people jinko pata nahi ke yeh AI hai, vo post kar denge yeh Salman Khan vaha pe tha,” he said.

But Salman drew a distinction between people who unknowingly circulate such material and those who deliberately create it while knowing that it is fake.

Salman Khan wants action against such creators

It was at this point that Salman questioned the people knowingly making such videos and said they should face serious consequences.

“But jinko yeh baat pata hai, jinho ne yeh video banaya hai, what kind of people are they? Now those kinds of people should be put behind bars,” he said.

Salman then offers a solution about what he believes would be required to stop the practice.

“Jab tak koi ekad do aisa andar jaayega nahi na, tab tak yeh rukne wala hai nahi,” he added.

He also called for a law to address the issue and said social media needs stronger controls over such content.

“There has to be a censorship on social media. And I am going to take this up very seriously,” Salman said.

The actor further told the contestants that similar AI-related incidents are happening with people associated with Bigg Boss 20 as well.

His comments on trolling

Salman's remarks about AI came after last week's episode in which he had already addressed the treatment of actors online.

Earlier, the actor had hit back at trolls commenting on his appearance and age. He also spoke in defence of actresses facing comments about their bodies and criticised paparazzi for taking what he described as inappropriate photographs of female actors.

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who appeared on the show this Sunday to promote Hunkkaar, praised Salman for speaking about such issues from his position in the industry.

“Jis tarike se aapne trolls ko iss baar muhtod jawab diya hai, it’s a huge thing ki aapke position mein koi agar muddon par baat karta hai, khada hota hai. Yeh bahut bada impact deta hai logon pe,” she told him.

Salman also said that the paparazzi had taken his earlier feedback in the right spirit.

Salman clarifies why he removed his T-shirt

The episode also saw Salman explain his shirtless moment from the previous weekend. The actor said he had not removed his T-shirt to show off six-pack abs, because he does not currently have them.

“Aur maine jab shirt utara tha, maine isliye utara tha ki nahi hai bhai ab six pack. Ab unko pata nahi body acchi lag gayi. Abhi nahi hai. Abhi time hai uske liye. Ekad do mahine hai,” he said.

Salman described getting back into shape as a work in progress and added, “Aisa nahi tha ki fit hogaya hu toh dikhaya. Unfit mein dikhaya maine.”
